From Hawaii with Love

Of course there are the lurid shirts, the indelible sunsets, the palm trees swaying with the sinuous hips of the garlanded girls and the bronzed surfers straddling the waves. A cliché but none the less real. But then there's the music. A sumptuous popular culture which became a major factor in the shaping of Country and Western music in the U.S.and the Hawaiin, slide guitar evolved into the pedal steel. And now the ukulele is omnipresent in contemporary pop. On this mini-album, Claude Polikar creates his own personal picture postcard of this music at once so familiar but so, so exotic.
