Laurent Couson is a composer, pianist, and conductor.

At a very young age, he completed his studies with top honors at the Conservatoire of Tours.
He then entered the Conservatoire Supérieur de Paris and the École Normale de Paris, from which he graduated. 

In 2002, he began his career with Radio France, which commissioned his first works. His compositions were later performed at prestigious venues such as Salle Pleyel, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Théâtre de la Ville, and even at Carnegie Hall in New York.

In the following years, he conducted his own compositions and major repertoire pieces with renowned ensembles including the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Orchestre National de Bordeaux, Orchestre de Nice, Les Musiciens du Louvre, Prague Symphony Orchestra, London Symphonic Orchestra, Bulgarian Radio Orchestra, Bucharest Radio Orchestra, Budapest Symphony Orchestra, European Camerata, Beijing Symphony Orchestra, Qingdao Symphony Orchestra, Saarbrücken City Orchestra... either as a guest conductor or for recordings of his own works. 

He has written and conducted several musical shows that have met with great success in major Parisian theaters, such as Anges et Démons and Roméos et Juliettes, all praised by critics.He also conducted Fiddler on the Roof on tour throughout France.

From 2010 to 2015, he served as one of the music directors of the Orchestra and Choir of the Three Cultures in Morocco, conducting a diverse repertoire ranging from 18th-century music to contemporary works, often his own.

From 2014 to 2018, he was the musical director of the South Asia Symphonic Orchestra and the Bangkok Chamber Orchestra in Thailand, where he founded South Asia Music Production, an international production company with its own symphonic recording studio, Studio 28. There, he produced over a hundred recordings and concerts.

Since 2019, he has been a guest conductor of the National Orchestra of Moldova, the Qingdao Symphony Orchestra in China, and the Hélios Orchestra and Choir in Paris.

In 2020, his show Electro Symphonic Project—a composition for DJs and full symphony orchestra—was a major event at the Bordeaux Opera and La Seine Musicale in Paris.

In 2021, he created Requiem XIX, an ecumenical work for peace written in three languages (Latin, Hebrew, and Arabic), which premiered in France before religious representatives of the three cultures. The performance was later staged in several French opera houses and places of worship in the following years.

Strongly drawn to film music, he has composed the original scores for around thirty feature films, working with directors such as Claude Lelouch, Luc Besson, Xavier Palud, and Nae Caranfil, as well as many projects in China.

He also works as an arranger and music director for many jazz and French chanson artists. His collaborations include Charles Aznavour, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Didier Lockwood, Francis Lai, Gérard Manset, Régine, Liane Foly, Anggun, Marianne James, Arielle Dombasle, Sylvie Joly, Cécilia Cara, Stéphane Belmondo, Khalil Chahine, Jean-Marie Ecay, André Ceccarelli, Eric Legnini, and others.
His name appears in the credits of over fifty albums, and he has released ten albums under his own name through Universal Production Music.

He has also worked as an actor, notably playing the male lead in Claude Lelouch's film Ces Amours-là, and appeared in Salaud, on t’aime, Un plus une, and Chacun sa vie, alongside Jean Dujardin.

He returned again in a leading role in Lelouch’s La Vertu des Impondérables, as well as in L’Amour, c’est mieux que la vie and Finalement, in which he played himself.

Since 2022, he has also been the host and producer of the radio show La Musique de ma Vie on RCJ.
